Strugling with addiction, drugs, or alcohol?

Maybe it's time to speak with someone in the recovery chevra.  We are simply a group of Chicagoland Jews in recovery who are passionate about helping others learn about and get into recovery from addiction and/or substance abuse.  We are your neighbors and fellow shul go-ers.  You may even already know us personally but not know we are in recovery.

When it comes to problems with substances and addiction, sometimes it's difficult to know where to go for help and what the process looks like.  We hope to change that, one down-to-earth connection at a time.

The path to recovery has changed our lives.  Perhaps it can change yours as well.  Let's have a chat.

How We Work

Picture
Step Zero - Eyes Open
You or a loved one is concerned about your use of substances or addictive behavior.  You realize you have questions about your experience with substances, are curious if you have a problem, or are wondering what the process of recovery is like.  You may be curious to hear from others like you who have encountered similar challenges in life and what they went through.

Step One - Reach Out
Discreetly get in touch with the Recovery Chevra using one of the following methods:

1. Visit the contact page and fill out the contact form.  You may submit the form anonymously as long as we have a method to respond to you.

2. Send an email to one of the addiction specific email addresses on the contact page.

3. Speak to your synagogue rabbi.  We have members in many Chicagoland congregations/shuls and many local rabbonim (click to see list) already know how to directly connect you with a member in the Chevra.

Step Two - Connect
A member of the Chevra who is currently in recovery with a significant amount of sobriety will receive your message, make time to reach out to you directly to have a discussion, answer any questions you may have, and connect you with resources that may help.  While our members do not have answers to every problem and we are not licensed professionals, in most cases we can talk to you about the experiences we have had and point you in the direction of what has worked for us.

Step Three - Discover and Recover
Once you feel comfortable beginning the road to recovery, we hope to be a source of continued service, friendship, and resources to assist you on your journey and continue pointing you in the direction of "doing the next right thing". We have many years of combined experience discovering the true joy of a life free from the suffocation of addiction.
